Can Someone Die from a Broken Heart?

December 5, 2010

I was intrigued by this question suggestion by Google:

Can someone die from a broken heart?

And I found that some persons with a broken heart can die:

Broken heart syndrome (BHS) often occurs after the loss of a loved one. Although the condition appears in ancient and modern literature, broken heart syndrome first gained recognition as a physical illness in the early 1990’s. Symptoms of broken heart syndrome include chest pain, shortness of breath, insomnia and depression.

Although it may be mistaken for a heart attack, broken heart syndrome is an inflammatory heart disease. The heart muscle weakens, and the apex of the left ventricle swells, constricting blood flow. The left ventricle is the major pumping mechanism of the heart.

Where Is Google’s Ramadan Doodle?

August 11, 2010

Ramadan Mubarak to all!

So, today is the first day of Ramadan. I thought I would see a Ramadan doodle on Google.

There is none!

Why there is no doodle for Ramadan, I do not know. Ramadan is a major event celebrated by more than one billion people worldwide. Its spirit manifests all around us, in every house, in every town, and it crosses borders.

Note: Some Websites imply that there is no need for a Ramadan doodle on Google. Why? Because anything of Islamic link reminds them, as they claim, of terrorism or antisemitism! Surely, it is either a sign of jealousy, hatred, or both.
