Is She Poor Because She Is Muslim?!

So, I was reading a blog by a missionary in Africa. She met an Ugandan woman who she thought was Christian and she wanted to talk with her about the Gospel. The missionary discovered that the woman is Muslim and that she is struggling to feed her seven kids after her husband’s death. The missionary wrote:

It was crazy.

What was crazy, that I do not know.

She told the woman about sins and that the sins we commit are separating us from God, and implied that because of their sins people suffer from poverty and lead miserable lives. Now, what brings sins to her conversation at this point? We already know that people in Africa, especially in war-torn Africa, are oppressed and they live under corrupt leaders and frail governments. No one can deny that Africa is rich in natural resources. But, you can agree with me that some African leaders are not doing their duty in providing their people with what their lands had offered them. They will not share.

That Muslim Ugandan family is not the only sufferer from governmental corruption, is it?

Some people play with words and find it a chance in people’s misery to fulfill their own agenda.

  1. Saladin Says:

When I lived in Africa, I was struck by how generous and giving people were, and how corrupt the governments were. I have almost no respect for most African leaders, yet enormous empathy and compassion for Africans. They’ve rich cultures to share and could teach most of us a thing or two about hospitality.

I’ve also met a lot of missionaries who certainly have zeal but neither compassion nor common sense. I have no time for them.
